NewsPTR Releases Direct Entry Form For Half Million Dollar World Finals #11 Roping! The PTR is proud to release the Direct Entry Form for the upcoming Half Million Dollar PTR World Finals #11 Roping. The PTR World Finals will be held February 26-27, 2010 at the Mojave Crossing Events Center and AVI Casino and Resort in Laughlin, NV-Bullhead City, AZ. As you may already know there are three possible ways to reserve a spot in the PTR World Finals #11 Roping. First, the team that wins the average at any PTR qualifier will receive a spot with their entry fees paid. Second, all teams that place 2nd-10th in the 4-Steer Average at any PTR qualifier receive reduced entry fee positions at the cost of $500/Roper or $1,000/Team. Finally, you may reserve a spot in the Finals by Directly entering on a Direct Entry Form which is $1,250/Roper or $2,500/Team. The PTR World Finals will rank as the third richest #11 payout in the United States. The only reason the PTR World Finals will rank #3 is due to our reduced entry fee qualifying format. If the PTR charged one large entry fee to every contestant, the PTR would rank #1. The PTR World Finals is capped at 250 teams! Of those 250 teams, 100 will be qualified teams and the other 150 spots are reserved for Direct Entries! A roper may enter the Finals twice and there is no age limit. We encourage everyone to get their Direct Entries in ASAP because there is limited availability. With the PTR qualifying so many teams at qualifying events, there is only 150 Direct Entry positions available. In the event that you Directly enter the Finals, then go to a PTR qualifier and win a free or reduced entry, the PTR will refund you the entry fee difference. Although many ropers may be planning on qualifying at upcoming qualifiers, it is smart to reserve your spot no matter what. As just stated, if you then qualify you will be refunded the entry fee difference. It is no secret the PTR is going to great lengths to try and improve the sport of team roping for all its contestants. The PTR looks around at other major ropings and other organizations and attempts to fix what is wrong with all of them by creating the perfect place to come and rope, the PTR! The PTR feels ropers should get the opportunity to go to ropings where they have many chances to win, the get to rope many steers, they get to rope for great money, the facilities, cattle and crew are top notch, and finally they get the opportunity to qualify for a year end World Finals with life altering payouts. The PTR World Finals that will be held at the Mojave Crossing Events Center will be a first class event. On Friday February 26th the PTR will kick of with the warm up roping for our #11 contestants. Following the warm up roping, on Friday night will be the PTR World Finals Open Roping which will showcase 30 of the most prolific teams in the World as they rope escalating payouts and the right to be crowned PTR Open World Champion. Then on Saturday February 27th, will be the #11 World Finals Roping which is scheduled to payout nearly a half million dollars. Contestants can rest assured that the PTR will provide the best roping stock, announcers, crew and more to make the PTR World Finals one of the most premier events in the Country. For those that have not been to the Mojave Crossing Events Center, directly next door is the AVI Casino and Resort. The AVI is the host hotel and casino for the PTR World Finals. The AVI Casino and Resort provides visitors with a 35,000 square foot casino floor, 7 restaurants, a private golf course, swimming pools, movie theatres and much more. The AVI is a true oasis and the PTR is proud to have them as a host hotel. The AVI has extended special rates for the PTR World Finals. Weekday rates during the World Finals are $27/night and weekend rates are $54/night. For Reservations and the special rate you will need to call 1-800-284-2946 and mention the “PTR World Finals” and the group code of GPTR210. Charly Crawford & Jade Corkill Claim California PTR Pro Series Championship! On April 26th, 2008 the PTR hosted their California Spring Tour Stop in King City California. Like all PTR Pro Series events, only the most prolific team ropers are chosen to compete. PTR Pro Series events are exceptionally attractive to all Professional Ropers due to the fact that the PTR is the only team roping series that refuses to hold a stock charge and adds a significant amount of money to the pot. The team emerging from the All-Star line up was three time NFR Qualifier Charly Crawford and the worlds number one heeler Jade Corkill. Charly and Jade took home $10,000 for being the picture of consistency. In a roping that was highlighted by sub four second runs, Charly and Jade played every round safe staying solid in average. After the fourth full go round, Crawford and Corkill were the high team back to the short round with a time of 28.32 seconds on four head. Breathing down their throat was the 2008 Timed Event World Champion Daniel Green and his partner, two time AQHA World Champion Todd Hampton who were in the second high call position. As the short round arrived eight time World Champion Jake Barnes and partner Kyon Sayer set the pace posting a 5.79 second run to kick things off. The very next run, NFR Qualifiers Blaine Linaweaver and Richard Durham posted a 6.00 second run which catapulted them into the number one spot with a total time of 36.83 on five head. When the second high call team of Daniel Green and Todd Hampton took a no time in the short round, it left the door wide open for Charly and Jade. All they needed was a time of 8.50 or better to claim the title. As the gates cracked they approached the short round steer just as they had the previous four, by using their head. When the flag dropped they had posted a time of 7.84 seconds to give them a total of 36.16 on five head and the California Spring PTR Championship. Holding on and claiming second in the average was Blaine Linaweaver and Richard Durham who took home $6,000 for their performance. Each team got the opportunity to compete in four full rounds of competition. The first and fourth rounds were won by the very impressive team of Colter Todd and Cesar De La Cruz posting a 5.35 in round one and a scorching 4.56 in round four. Round number two saw the fastest time of the night which was a blazing 4.54 turned in by the 2008 Hork Dog Champions Derick Fleming and Caleb Twisselman. The third round was claimed by up and coming super star Joel Bach of Millsap, Texas and his partner many time NFR Qualifier Cody Cowden. The short round was won by the great Jake Barnes and Kyon Sayer posting a time of 5.79 seconds. The roping that was on display in King City that night was truly amazing. No matter what your style of roping may be the PTR had something for everyone. You could watch a team like Charly and Jade make nothing but consistent solid runs or you could watch a team like Colter and Cesar just light the place on fire with four second runs over a fourteen foot score. The PTR was created to provide an energetic atmosphere where fans could interact and watch the worlds most prestigious Team Ropers compete for substantial prize money. As the price of fuel continues to skyrocket along with most everyday expenses, ropers must really be selective in where they travel and which ropings they enter. The PTR is making a valid attempt to improve the sport of team roping for all its competitors, not just the professionals. The PTR has began to host lower numbered ropings in conjunction with all Pro Series events. The King City Tour Stop also played home of the Elite 11 roping (full story and results on page XX) which was the lower number roping in conjunction with this particular tour stop. We at the PTR will continue to built ropings in which one may enter at a minimal entry fee and will produce in excess of 100 ways to win. Please see page XX of this issue for more information on our California Summer Tour Stop in Salinas, which will once again host the top teams in the world along with a lower number roping you don’t want to miss! It is extremely important to us at the PTR that we give our overwhelming gratitude to all of our sponsors and everyone at the Salinas Valley Fairgrounds in King City. Earl Escobar and his crew in King City were exceptional to work with and the PTR recommends the Salinas Valley Fairgrounds and its facilities to any producers interested in hosting equine events. Most importantly the PTR would like to thank our sponsors. Through the assistance of our sponsors, the PTR is able to create significant payouts to all our contestants. We at the PTR have an unprecedented amount of respect for all our sponsors. Our hats are off to our major sponsors at Wrangler, Classic Ropes, Classic Equine, Day Money Roping Supply, Best Ever Pads, Master Saddles & Skyline Silversmiths. We would also like to give a sincere thank you to all event sponsors at Coast National Bank, C&N Tractors, Knechts Plumbing, Bassetti Farms, Armenta Construction, Souza Construction, My Chevrolet, Pierce Services, Chicago Title, Santa Lucia Farms, Coast Pipe and the Ropers Sports News. Without your continued support none of the above would be possible, Thank You! Travis Cecil & Jesse Beam Claim PTR Elite 11 Title! On April 26th, 2008 the PTR hosted the Elite 11 roping in King City, CA in conjunction with the California PTR Pro Series Tour Stop. The Elite 11 is a new format the PTR designed to give ropers the opportunity to have over 100 chances to win money in a single roping. The roping was equipped with the main 4-steer avg, along with a 3-steer avg, #10 Incentive, 3 Full Go rounds, and a roping school round. The duo of Travis Cecil and Jesse Beam had no problem finding the pay window. The two young guns entered the short round in the second high call position. Cecil and Beam used their heads and made a smart, clean 10.19 second run to guarantee them no less than second place with only one team to rope. The high call team of Jeff Mang and Mike Draper had 12.19 seconds to rope their high team steer. When the gates cracked and the flagged dropped the high call team roped a leg which made Travis Cecil and Jesse Beam the champions by roping four steers in 40.57 seconds taking home $9,500 and fully tooled Trophy Master Saddles. Cecil and Beam also claimed the Incentive win good for another $1,250 and Trophy Best Ever Pads. The father son duo of John and Justin Pereira posted a scorching 7.1 second run in the short round giving them a total of 41.08 seconds on four head catapulting them from the ninth call position to finish second and win $6,584 and Trophy Skyline Buckles. The high call team of Jeff Mang and Mike Draper finished the roping in the third place position with a total time of 43.44 on four head earning them $4,920 and Trophy PTR Silver Knives. Cody and Van Snow finished in the fourth place position taking home $3,542 and Trophy Best Ever pads. Rounding out the top five was Jeff Mang and Ryan Fowler who claimed $2,210 and Trophy Best Ever Pads. The PTR Elite 11 roping had over 100 ways to win money. The PTR has been working very hard to create good ropings where a contestant doesn’t have to pay an arm and a leg to enter. Each team received three full go rounds and a shot to qualify in one of three short rounds. The Consolation 3-Steer average was won by Dustin Hermrick and Sterling Twisselman with a time of 25.27 on three head filling their pockets with $2,000. Second in the 3-Steer avg. was Jeff Mang and Van Snow paying them $1,500 and third was claimed by Charlie Quinn and Preston Vandeburg which payed $1,000. As every team roper very well knows, the cost of fuel and traveling expenses is getting outrageous. Due to this misfortune, contestants must be very selective about the ropings they choose to enter. The PTR has been working very hard to create roping formats and atmospheres that significantly benefit team ropers. We at the PTR do our very best in choosing first class facilities to hold first class ropings. The PTR prides itself on giving ropers many chances to win money and a fair opportunity. The total cash payout for the Elite 11 roping was over $40,000 between 118 teams not counting the prizeline. By 2009 standings will be kept of our lower number ropings which will qualify contestants to a finale at the end of the year in conjunction with our Pro Series Finale. We are also proud to announce that all 2009 events will be televised with Tyler Magnus on the Roping Show. We truly appreciate all the support of the teams that entered in King City and look forward to making future events an even greater success. Please see page XX of this issue for more information on our next roping and California Summer Tour Stop in Salinas, California. Thank You for all that you do! Luke Brown & Monty Joe Petska Claim Arizona PTR Championship! On February 21st, 2008 in Litchfield Park, Arizona, Luke Brown and Monty Joe Petska topped the all-star line up to claim the 2008 Professional Team Ropers (PTR) Arizona Championship in front of a packed house at Dunn’s Arena! Brown and Petska took home $12,000 for roping five steers in 42.15 seconds. The PTR invited 25 of the top teams in the world to compete. Although there was a waiting list for teams to get in, the PTR kept the team count at 25. The PTR was created so fans could watch 25 of the top teams in the world compete in an energetic atmosphere for substantial payouts. Through the support of sponsors, the PTR provided a total payout of $30,000 between only 25 teams! Luke Brown and Monty Joe Petska’s time of 42.15 was just enough to top second place winners Bubba Buckalloo and Caleb Twisselman who roped five head in 43.13 seconds to take home $8,000. Shain Sproul and Bob Baize came in third with a combined total of 44.37 on five head and took home $5,000 for their efforts. As the PTR continues to grow immensely with each event so does the caliber of teams. The Arizona PTR showcased perhaps the best ropers you will ever get to see at a 25 team event. Each of the 25 teams got two full rounds and a chance to run at the escalating payouts. Fresh off their victory the day before at the Mike Cervi Memorial Team Roping, Trevor Brazile and Patrick Smith started the roping off with a bang winning the first round with a time of 6.31 to pick up the $2,000 go round check. The second round was claimed by the hot shot twins Jake and Jimmie Cooper who roped their steer in 6.33 to claim the second round victory. Despite a couple penalties early in the roping, Speed Williams put on a show in the later rounds to rope him and partner Al Bach back into contention. Williams and Bach won the short round fast time posting a scorching 5.39 second run over the 16ft score. The PTR was created to provide an energetic atmosphere where fans could interact and watch the worlds most prestigious Team Ropers compete for substantial prize money. The PTR experienced a major speed bump prior to the Arizona event. The PTR had the Arizona event scheduled at Wild Horse Pass Indian Community in Chandler, Arizona. About three weeks before the roping, the event had to relocate facilities when Wild Horse Pass closed its facilities and cancelled all events due to financial troubles. With only three weeks left to advertise the new location of Dunns Arena in nearby Litchfield Park, it was a stressful situation for everyone. Nonetheless, the PTR never missed a beat. The crowd that showed up to watch the open was amazing. Considering the circumstances of the location change, a crowd of nearly 1,000 people still showed up to watch the most prolific team ropers the sport has to offer. This roping in Arizona kicked of the 2008 PTR Tour. The next stop will be in King City California on April 26th, 2008 at the Salinas Valley Fairgrounds. We at the PTR are extremely excited about our next tour stop in King City. The indoor facility in which the Salinas Valley Fairgrounds has to offer gives us the opportunity to make it a very exciting event. The show will be equipped with high energy music, special affect lighting, specialty acts, a full bar, and barn dance, not to mention the best team ropers in the sport of Pro Rodeo. Along with our King City event we have constructed one of the best Triad #11 ropings you will find. With over 100 ways to win, the “Elite 11” will take place during the day on Saturday April 26th followed by the PTR Pro Series at 7:00pm. We designed these ropings so fans could compete and win substantial payouts during the day then sit back and watch their icons at night. Please see page XX of this issue for more information and visit us online at www. proteamropers.com. It is extremely important to us at the PTR that we give our overwhelming gratitude to all of our sponsors. Our hats are off to our major sponsors at Wrangler, Classic Ropes, Classic Equine, Day Money Roping Supply, Best Ever Pads, Master Saddles & Skyline Silversmiths. The PTR would also like to thank Bob Feist and the Ropers Sports News for their continued support of the PTR! Alps & Bowers Victorious At PTR Terrific 10!Jeff Bowers made his trip from Creswell, Oregon worth while at the inaugural PTR Terrific 10 roping in Litchfield Park, AZ on February 22nd. The first annual Terrific 10 roping brought ropers from 12 different states and two countries together to compete for the hefty payouts. Jeff Bowers won first in the average with partner Debra Alps from Culver, Oregon with a time of 42.25 on four head to claim $10,000 and special edition trophy Master Saddles. Jeff was not finished. Coming back both first and second high call to the short round, that’s exactly how he finished. Jeff and partner Margaret Kenneally from Fort Klamath Oregon, finished second in the average with a total time of 43.14 on four head to take home $7,000 and trophy gold buckles designed by Skyline Silversmiths. The high stakes Terrific 10 roping was an enter twice format in which Jeff surely took advantage of. Third in the Average was claimed by the California and Texas team of Lori Parker and Kelly Overton taking home $5,000 and trophy skyline buckles. Forth was won by Chad Nicholson and Jim Olson, which awarded them with $3,000 and trophy Best Ever Pads, while the top five was rounded out with Bo Ramsey and Van Snow who picked up $2,000 and trophy Best Ever Pads for their efforts as well. The PTR Terrific 10 had a very attractive century bonus built in, which was claimed by the Montana, Texas team of Willy Vietor and Bob Strander who took home $2,500 and trophy gold buckles from Skyline Silversmiths. All teams received two full rounds in the four steer average, having a chance to claim some hefty round money as well. The first round was won by Chad Nicholson and Jim Olson posting a time of 7.05 to pick up the $2,000 go round check. Striking in the second round was the Arizona duo of Janet and Pete Mickelson who stopped the clock in 6.89 to pick up the $2,000 second round check. The Terrific 10 was held in conjunction with the PTR Pro Series roping the night before. The previous night showcased 25 of the most prolific teams in Pro Rodeo as they competed for the PTR Arizona Championship. We at the PTR have been working very hard to build a series of events where ropers have the opportunity to win large payouts with a minimal entry fee during the day, then kick back and watch their icons at night. That’s what makes the PTR so great. You can come and watch 25 of the top rodeo teams in the world put on a show one night, then have the opportunity to win significant money the next day in our high stakes lower numbered ropings. The whole purpose the PTR was created was to give team ropers a place they could win significant money without paying enormous entry fees or be taken advantage of on stock charges. Our upcoming tour stop in King City, California will host one of the best Triad #11 ropings ever designed. This will be a four steer average, with three full go rounds. There is a consolation 3-steer, #10 incentive, go-rounds, and a roping school round. All being said there is over 100 ways to win in this roping. Please see our ad on page XX of this issue for more information or visit us online at www.proteamropers.com. The PTR would like to thank our sponsors at Wrangler, Classic Ropes. Classic Equine, Day Money Roping Supply, Best Ever Pads, Master Saddles and Skyline Buckles. Without the support of our sponsors nothing would be possible. So mark your calendars for April 26th, 2008 at the Salinas Valley Fairground indoor arena in King City California for a roping and show you don’t want to miss! Matt Sherwood & Randon Adams Claim 2007 PTR Championship! On August 24th, 2007 in beautiful Paso Robles California, Matt Sherwood and Randon Adams claimed the Inaugural Professional Team Ropers (PTR) championship in front of a packed house of 2,000 screaming fans! Sherwood and Adams took home $15,000 and trophy saddle pads sponsored by Ryan and Tammy White of Best Ever Pads. The PTR is an invitational Open team roping based on the top teams in the world. At the inaugural event in Paso Robles, only 20 teams were chosen to compete. Through the support of sponsors, the PTR added nearly $20,000 to the roper’s pot which provided a total payout of $37,000 between only 20 teams! Sherwood and Adams roped four steers in 30.14 seconds and edged out second place winners Shane Schwenke and Marty Becker who had a combined total of 31.21 on four head. Schwenke and Becker took home $10,000 for their second place efforts. Speed Williams and Dean Tuftin came in third place after breaking the barrier in the short round and finishing the roping with a combined total of 39.61 seconds on four head. Despite the broken barrier they still took home $4,000 for the third place finish. Each of the 20 teams got all four steers and a chance to run at the go rounds if they happened to go out of the average. Chad Nicholson and Dugan Kelly (PTR owners) decided to have a little fun with the score. During rounds one and two the score was 18ft in length, while in rounds three and four the score was shortened down to 16ft. The reason for the different score lengths was excitement for the crowd and to even the playing field. The PTR wanted each team to showcase their horsemanship abilities over the long score as well as their speed quickness over the short score. The California team of Daniel Green and Todd Hampton had no trouble with either. Green and Hampton won the second round with a time of 6.88 and the third round with a time of 5.65. Each go round paid $2,000 a team. The first round was split between Riley and Brady Minor and Speed Williams and Dean Tuftin. Both teams stopped the clock at 7.44 seconds. The fourth round was claimed by the Texas team of David Key and Kory Koontz who roped their steer in 5.89 seconds. The PTR was created to provide an energetic atmosphere where fans could interact and watch the worlds most prestigious Team Ropers compete for substantial prize money. Paso Robles had a full house on August 24th which made the roping that much more exciting. Many of the contestants could not believe the size of the crowd. Dean Tufin said “there are more people at this roping, than many of the rodeos we go to throughout the year.” That’s exactly what we are trying to achieve at the PTR. We pride ourselves in putting on a show for our fans. If the excitement of the worlds most prestigious team ropers, combined with the blasting Rock and Roll music wasn’t enough for the crowd, Announcer Rich Machado stole the show. We got as many compliments on the music and announcer as we did the roping itself. Dugan Kelly and Chad Nicholson have been to enough ropings to know what works and what doesn’t. Our number one goal is to make a valid attempt to better the sport of team roping for our professional cowboys and put on a show for our fans. It is very important to us at the PTR that everyone is overwhelmingly satisfied, from sponsors to fans. This roping marked the first of many to come. As we iron out our dates for 2008, the PTR plans on conducting a minimum of three events across the country. Each event will continue to get better and better. As PTR sponsorships continue to grow, so will the payouts. The PTR has future plans of accumulating enough sponsor money that the contestants will not have to pay an entry fee at all. At our 2008 events we have some very exciting country entertainers scheduled to entertain our fans after the roping. We have gone to these great lengths because we want the PTR to become a venue in which the whole family can have a truly memorable experience. Also in 2008 the PTR will be creating a series of high paying amateur ropings. The details of these ropings are being finalized and information will be available soon. Please visit our website at www. proteamropers.com for more information. It is extremely important to us at the PTR that we give our overwhelming gratitude to all of our sponsors. Through the assistance of our sponsors, the PTR is able to create significant payouts to our professionals with a very minimal entry fee. We at the PTR have an unprecedented amount of respect for all our sponsors. Our hats are off to our major sponsors at Classic Ropes, Classic Equine, Mullahey Ford, Day Money Roping Supply, Madonna Inn, Best Ever Pads and K-Jug Radio. The PTR would also like to thank the following: Wrangler, Budweiser, Bob Feist, Ropers Sports News, Harris Ranch Beef Company, Central Coast Barns, Silverado Barns, Farm Supply, Santa Margarita Feed, C&N Tractors, Coast National Bank, Nicholson Ranches, Central Coast Trailers, Pierce Services, D.A. Craghead Construction, Van Snow, Coast Pipe, Cattaneo Bros, Souza Construction, Armenta Construction, MGE Underground, T bar H Construction, Khnechts Plumbing, Goyette Concrete, Ronnie Ochoa, Dave Spur, Mark Goforth, Pete Clark Real Estate, David Crye, Ed Crye, Scott Hutchins, and Large Animal Practice. Without any of these sponsors the PTR would not have had such a successful Inaugural event. We at the PTR would also like to give thanks to Bob Feist and the Ropers Sports News for doing such a wonderful job publicizing and promoting our event. These are world class people and we have the utmost respect for each of them. | |||
